Catamaran Pura Vida‘s recent guests explored The Caves on Norman Island with their crew. They loved the experience of discovering what felt like a “lair from pirate’s past”. They are located at the southern tip of Norman Island in the calm waters just outside the bay where the infamous Willy T is located.

All levels of snorkelers can venture into the alcoves and see what it’s all about. The walls of the caves are patchworked with red sponge and orange cup coral. The water is crystal clear and there’s plenty of marine life to see, such as yellowtail snapper, puffer fish, trunkfish, blue tangs, parrotfish, sergeant majors, damselfish, squid, lobster, sea cucumbers, and possibly barracudas.

Local legends are rife with tales suggesting pirates, like the notorious Blackbeard, stashed their loot in The Caves. Despite the lack of recent treasure, the mystery surrounding The Caves makes exploring them exciting.

As the setting sun casts a golden glow on the horizon, it’s easy to see why it has captured the imagination of generations. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or adventure seeker, The Caves of Norman Island promise an unforgettable experience.
